Phudina Moong Rasaa

 

Have  you also grown up in a household where some days of the week you should eat certain cereals and pulses. Like Wednesday’s you should eat Moong. Saturdays you cannot eat Chana (chickpeas). I don’t know the logic behind it, but for sure I can share a yummy recipe for a moong ! 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiled moong
  • ½ cup – Finely chopped onions
  • 1 Finely white part of green onions 
  • ¼ cup- finally chopped tomatoes 
  • ¼ tsp of dried mint leaves
  • ¼ tsp of chopped coriander
  • Oil
  • Jeera
  • Hing 

Recipe: 

  1. Heat up medium pan with 1tbsp oil. Once oil is hot, add cumin, and hing. 
  2. Once cumin crackles, add finely chopped onions both red and green (just the whites) and sauté it for few minutes, until onions are soft. 
  3. Then add – ‘dried mint leaves’ – crush little between palms – Do Not Skip This!!
  4. Next add chopped coriander. Cook it for few minutes.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and then add all masala’s – turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder. Season it some salt. 
  6. Once tomatoes gets soft enough add some water. 
  7. Finally add boiled moong. And adjust consistency with water. 
  8. And serve with rice or paratha.
